List of unreleased Coldplay songs

This article lists notable or potentially notable songs, Coldplay are known to have performed and/or recorded which have never been officially released on a single or album. While there are no official releases of any of these songs, bootleg recordings of the majority of them exist.
Songs
So Sad
"So Sad" is an early Coldplay song that was performed during Coldplay's first gig on Friday 16 January 1998. A 13 second recording of the song can be found on the internet. There is no known complete recording of the song.
If All Else
"If All Else" was the first song played during Coldplay's first gig. Nothing is known of the song other than its name.
Vitamins
"Vitamins" was the fourth song played at Coldplay's first gig. Like "If All Else", this is the only known fact about the song.
Deserter
"Deserter" was one of the first songs written during the sessions for "A Rush Of Blood To The Head". However, the band felt dissatisfied with the song and they decided to shelve it.
Fingers Crossed
"Fingers Crossed" was another song written during the sessions of "A Rush Of Blood To The Head". It was also shelved.
In Isolation
"In Isolation" is the last known unreleased song from "A Rush Of Blood To The Head". The song was shelved along with "Fingers Crossed" and "Deserter".
Ladder to the Sun
"Ladder To The Sun" was a song written during the recording of "X&Y" but it did not make the final cut. However, the song was played during the "Twisted Logic Tour". The song may have been for Chris Martin's wife Gwyneth Paltrow. There may also be some relationship between the song and the single Talk, as the title appears in its lyrics.
Idiot
"Idiot" was an early Coldplay song that was performed during the US Club Tour and was considered for "A Rush of Blood To The Head" much like In My Place and Animals but it was eventually trashed. The band has not played the song since. Several live recordings of the song are on the internet.
A Ghost
"A Ghost" was an early song that was written shortly after Parachutes was released. like "Idiot", the song was trashed during the recording of " A Rush of Blood To The Head". There is a live recording on the internet that Chris Martin played solo on an American radio station in 2001. He said in the interview on the same show that it was inspired by Tom Waits.
Harmless
"Harmless" was written during the recordings of "X&Y" but it did not make the final cut. This song may be one the 42 songs that were trashed during the "X&Y" sessions. An unfinished version of the song can be found on the internet.
This Hollow Frame
"This Hollow Frame" was first worked on during the recording of "A Rush of Blood To The Head" but was left off the album. The band did consider it for "X&Y" but it is likely that "This Hollow Frame" was one of the 42 songs that were trashed.
Sweet Marianne
"Sweet Marianne" also known as "Marianne", was written during "X&Y" but was left off of the album. The band did however play it during the "Twisted Logic Tour". The song was written by the drummer, Will Champion for his girlfriend, Marianne Dark, whom he married in 2003.
There are several live recordings of the song on the internet.
Bloodless Revolution
Bloodless Revolution is the third track of the nine track demo album that was leaked on 18 July 2009. The song was probably scrapped and parts of it were used to make other songs that were featured on "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends".
First Steps
"First Steps" is track six on the nine track demo album that was leaked into the internet on 18 July 2009. Since the tracks date back to 2006, it is likely that "First Steps" was scrapped along with the other tracks and were used to make other songs featured on "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends".
Goodbye and Goodnight
"Goodbye and Goodnight" was the final track on the leaked demo album. The song's title may have a reference to the fact Chris Martin often says "goodbye and goodnight" at the end of concerts. The fate of this song, along with eight other ones featured on the leaked album, is unknown.
Loveless
"Loveless" is the eighth song on the July 18 leaked album. The leaked song is only 30 seconds long. This, along with the fact that Chris Martin mentions at the beginning of the song that "This is the chorus" means that the entire song has still not been heard.
The Man Who Swears
"The Man Who Swears" is fourth track off of the leaked album. The song was more than likely scrapped during the recording sessions.
The Man Who Swears 2
"The Man Who Swears 2" (also written as "The Man Who Swears II"), was the fifth track off of the leaked album. It is the middle part of "The Man Who Swears".
St. Stephen
"St. Stephen" is the opening track off of the July 18 leaked album. The fate of this song is unknown and it was likely scrapped, and used for other songs during the recording sessions of "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends".
Famous Old Painters
Famous Old Painters is a song written during sessions for Coldplay's fourth album, "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends", but was ultimately left off the album and is currently unreleased. The song came about around October 2007 when it was introduced alongside Glass of Water in Prospekt's journal on October 29. The song title appears to reflect a general theme of the album, its singles and the Prospekt's March EP, which all feature old paintings as their cover artworks. The only known fact about the musical makeup of the song is that the song features a colliery brass band in the third verse.
Leftrightleftrightleft
Leftrightleftrightleft was a song written during sessions for "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends". It was mentioned in the preliminary list of album songs on Prospekt's journal, on 5 September 2007, but did not make it onto the album and is so far unreleased. In a coldplay.com interview on May 21 2009, Chris Martin commented that the song exists in eight different forms, all entirely unfinished. Will Champion is also known to dislike the song and this is why Chris says that the band have no plans to finish or release the song in any form in the future.
Lukas
"Lukas" is a song written during the recording sessions of "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends" but was left off the album. The song appears on the handwritten list of songs in an interview with tripleM and is suspected of being one of the blacked-out entries in Prospekt's journal entry on 5 September 2007. The song is one of the few unreleased songs from "Viva la Vida". However, "Lukas", along with four other songs was given by the band to Natalie Imbruglia and appears on her new album, Come to Life.
Bucket for a Crown
"Bucket for a Crown" was a one of the three songs that were played by Chris Martin during a charity gig on 27 November 2006. Chris claimed that he had written the new song just the night before with the help of a violin player who also joined him on stage. This is the only time that the song was played and since it was left off of "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends", it is unlikely that it will ever be released. There is a live recording of the song on the internet, the only one of the three.
Mining on the Moon
"Mining on the Moon" was the first song that was played at the charity gig on 27 November 2006. the song was likey scrapped during the recording sessions for "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends". This is one of the few unreleased Coldplay song that have never been released or leaked in any form.
The Fall of Man
"The Fall of Man" is the second song that was preformed during the 2006 charity gig. The song was also the second track on the July 18 leaked album. This means that the song was probably considered for "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends" but was later scrapped.
School
"School" was a song that was written during the sessions for "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends" and was even mentioned on the tripleM interview as "Rainy Day/School". Will Champion confirmed later in a radio interview that "School" used to be the intro to Rainy Day, before being re-used as the beginning part of Death And All His Friends.
Solid Ground
"Solid Ground" (also known as "Until the Water Flows") was a song written during the recording for "X&Y", but was left off of the album. The song may have been one of the 42 songs that were thrown away early on, but this seems unlikely as the band did perform the song. There is a live recording of the song on the internet.
The Dubliners
"The Dubliners" is a song that was written during the recording sessions for "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends" and was kicked off of the album. However, "The Dubliners" have been preformed during the "Viva la Vida Tour" and there are several recordings of it on the internet. Coldplay have refused to state if the song will ever be released, in any form in the future.
Christmas Lights
"Christmas Lights" was a song that Chris Martin performed during his interview with 60 Minutes in February 2009. The song is a short piano-based song. It is believed that "Christmas Lights" will be included in the upcoming fifth album.
