Athletic Department Awards Emerald Athletic Trophy *Presented to a senior student based on outstanding achievement in the fields of athletics, scholarship and citizenship. The award is sponsored jointly by the athletic department and the Oregon Daily Emerald. Higdon Trophy *Presented to a sophomore student who has excelled in the fields of athletics, scholarship and citizenship. The award is named after former football and track standout Higdon who was killed prior to his junior year at Oregon. Leo Harris Award *Previously known as the Alumni Athletic Award, the Leo Harris Award is presented to an alumni letterman on the basis of 20 years of achievement and service since graduation. The award is presented in honor of Oregon's first Director of Athletics Leo Harris. Becky L. Sisley Award *Presented to a former women's athlete commemorating community involvement, career development and support of University ideals. The award is presented in honor of Oregon's first Becky Sisley. Football Team Awards Skeie's Award *Previously known as the Hoffman Award, Skeie's Award is presented to the team's most outstanding player in a vote of team members. Gonyea Award *The Will Gonyea Award is presented to the team's most inspirational player. Casanova Award *Presented in honor of the Duck's former head coach and athletic director Len Casanova, the Casanova Award is presented to a first-year player who best exemplifies the ideal of competitiveness, team inspiration and outstanding performance. Clarke Trophy *Presented to the most improved player, determined by the coaching staff. The award was inaugurated in honor of Dudley Clarke, captain of Oregon's 1909 team. Ed Moshofsky Trophy *Presented to the team's top offensive lineman. The award presented in honor of former Ducks letterman Ed Moshofsky, whom the Moshofsky Center is named after. The award is determined by a series of weekly citations voted by the members of the Oregon Club of Portland. Joe Schaffeld Trophy *Presented to the team's top defensive lineman. The award is presented in honor of former Ducks letterman and 24-year assistant coach Joe Schaffeld. Gordon E. Wilson Award *Presented to the team's top special teams performer. The award is named on behalf of former Ducks letterman (1923, 1924) Gordon Wilson and is given by the Glass family of Eugene and Portland. Bob Officer Award *Presented to a player who has made a major contribution toward the success of the football program despite physical adversity. The award is named after the Duck's former head trainer Bob Officer. Senior Academic/Attitude Award *Presented to the senior player with a high academic average who has shown exemplary attitude. Duane Cargill Award *Presented to the player who has made a significant impact during the season. The award is named after former Ducks letterman (1960-1962) Duane Cargill.
