List of minor Tekken characters

The following contains descriptions of the various minor characters and organizations that appear throughout the Tekken fighting game series.

Non-playable characters
Characters mentioned or alluded to in the Tekken series, but who have never participated in any of the tournaments.

Doctor Abel
A 90-year-old scientist who was fairly famous in the underground world, but his findings and achievement's were often overshadowed and preceded by those of Doctor Boskonovitch.

Prior to The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3, Dr. Abel was in the final stages of completing his master project... the creation of a Cyborg Army. Abel believed that the "perfect cyborg" required that the mechanics be designed by his arch rival, Doctor Boskonovitch. In order to gain the necessary information needed, Abel, through his underground connections, acquired and re-animated the corpse of a recently deceased IPO (International Police Organization) Officer named Bryan Fury. Dr. Abel disptaches Bryan with the sole mission of collecting the critically needed data from Boskonovitch. Bryan sneaks into The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3, targeting the participant Yoshimitsu, whom has strong ties with Doctor Boskonovitch. Bryan failed.

Following The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3, Heihachi Mishima, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Mishima Zaibatsu, recruited Dr. Abel as his top scientific advisor. On accepting this esteemed position, Abel abandoned his plan to create a Cyborg Army, as well as Bryan Fury, without giving a second thought to the now-obsolete cyborg's well being or status.

Over the next two years, Abel spearheaded extensive experimentation, under the orders of Heihachi Mishima, in attempting to splice Ogre's genome with that of Heihachi Mishima, in order to create a new lifeform.

Appearances
Abel appears in 's Tekken 3 ending, Julia Chang's Tekken 4 ending, and Bryan Fury's Tekken 4 Prologue and Epilogue (only during the written part, not the CG part.). In Gun Jack's ending, he tries to destroy Gun Jack by firing a beam from space, but he fails because Gun Jack's energy shield protected both Jane and himself. In Julia's ending, he describes a project called "Genocell" and how it could be used to create viable lifeforms by merging Devil genes with human genes. After hearing this information, Julia deletes all of the "Genocell" files. Abel shoots at her with a gun, but he misses every shot, and Julia escapes with her life. In Bryan's Prologue, it is said that Abel abandoned him, and an image of Abel is shown. In Bryan's epilogue, Bryan approaches Abel on shaky legs and knocks Abel across the room. At the same time, Bryan falls to the ground, unconscious.

Jane
A young girl who was orphaned in a battlezone after the Russian government attacked with a platoon of Jack robots. The unit Jack-2 overcame his programming to protect her, but he was destroyed in the process. Over the past twenty years, Jane has dedicated her life to finding a way to resurrect her beloved Jack, with the funding of the Mishima Zaibatsu. But after being attacked by the Tekken Force and saved by Gun Jack, Jane now works for G Corporation. She developed and while working for G Corporation.

In the Tekken: The Motion Picture she is voiced by Jessica Schwatz.
In Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection she is voiced by Rumiko Varnes.

Legendary Capoeira Master
He is the Capoeira teacher to Eddy Gordo, and grandfather of Christie Monteiro. It was this man who took Eddy Gordo under his wing, after having saved Eddy from brutal beating, during a prison riot (see PlayStation Tekken 3 Opening Movie for reference). It is unknown why the legendary Capoeira master is in prison. He went on to school Eddy Gordo in the survival skills necessary to survive the harsh realities of Brazilian prison life; as well as instructing Eddy in the ways of Capoeira under his tutelage. In Tekken 5, he is finally released from his long incarceration, but has however become a frail, weak, emaciated old man, due to suffering from what is believed to be a terminal illness. In light of this situation, both Christie and Eddy enter the Fifth King of Iron Fist Tournament together with renewed vigor, in the hopes of acquiring a cure that will save him. The Legendary Capoeira Master appears in Christie and Eddy's shared ending.

Mr. Rochefort
Hailing from Monaco, Mr. Rochefort is pacifist father and a wealthy petroleum magnate. He is mentioned often by his daughter, but his physical appearance and first name are unknown. After receiving word of his daughter's rebellious participation in the fifth King of Iron Fist Tournament, he scolds Lili when she returns home from her defeat and angrily forbids her from leaving the Rochefort family mansion until further notice. Some time thereafter, he suffers from overwork when Rochefort Enterprises (the oil company he founded) falls into disrepute and when his many oil fields are taken over by Jin Kazama. It is there that Lili realizes that she can reclaim her father's oil field and his reputation, and decides to enter the Tournament to save her father and get back at Asuka Kazama for defeating her in the last Tournament.

Richard Williams
The father of Anna Williams and Nina Williams. Both of them blame each other for his death. He is from the Irish Mafia, and he had once trained his daughters in Aikido and Bone Martial Arts. He prefers Nina over Anna because he had seen the potential of Nina to bury her emotions and numb her thoughts. Anna was too soft and incapable of killing even the smallest bug. He only taught Nina the art of Assassination, sparking their rivalry. Anna learned her art partly from her mother (who taught both Nina and Anna) and by mixing the effective moves of people she had fought and beaten or had seen fighters obliterate their opponents with.

Richard appears in Nina's spin-off game Death by Degrees. He appears in a number of flashback cinematics, showing him with his daughters when they were children. This game depicts him being shot and killed protecting Nina, however calling Anna's name before he dies. In the official canon of the games, it is said that he is killed after the first Tekken.

Richard is also mentioned in Tekken: The Motion Picture, although his death was apparently different. In this version, he was killed by Anna Williams, whom Richard did not love and completely ignored in Nina's favour.

Other Entities/Organizations
These are not technically "characters" in the Tekken series, but are still corporate, government, or supernatural entities that remain important to the series.

Devil Gene
In the Tekken video game series, the Devil Gene is a mysterious curse that befalls several individuals within the Mishima bloodline.

It is unknown who in the Mishima bloodline originally held the gene. The curse is first described when Kazuya Mishima was a child and was thrown into a deep ravine by Heihachi Mishima, who wanted to test his son's strength. Kazuya survived the fall but only after he sold his soul to Devil in order to exact revenge on his father. However, due to the introduction of Jinpachi Mishima in Tekken 5, and some of the dialogue found within the game's story mode, there is some evidence that the Devil Gene may predate this.

Prior to Tekken 4, the Devil was only a single entity that was said to have struck a bargain with Kazuya. During Tekken 2, Kazuya still possessed a good side (represented by Angel) which fought Devil for control of Kazuya's soul. However, after Kazuya was defeated by Heihachi at the conclusion of Tekken 2, Devil fled Kazuya's burning body and attempted to possess Kazuya's son, Jin. After being defeated by Jun Kazama, Devil disappeared, only to resurface over a decade later after Jun's disappearance. The Devil branded Jin with a tattoo on his shoulder and later possessed the young man's body after Heihachi attempted to kill Jin. This brought forth the entity known as Devil Jin.

When Tekken 4 was released in 2001, there were a few changes to the concept. For the first time, the "Devil" was referred to as a gene that could be passed along from father to son rather than a mere supernatural entity. Secondly, the Devil within Kazuya somehow resurfaced, now completely merged with its host (Angel is nowhere to be seen), and announced that Jin's Devil is "half" of the original entity. This introduced the concept that the Devils that possessed Jin and Kazuya are somehow operating independently of one-another, instead of being one single entity as originally suggested.

Furthermore, Tekken 5 introduced Jinpachi Mishima, the eldest Mishima revealed to date. He is stated to also be possessed by a "Devil" in his Tekken 5/Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection ending, and Heihachi states in his own Story mode that Jinpachi has "Devil Blood".

Heihachi Mishima, son of Jinpachi and father of Kazuya, lacks any evidence of a Devil Gene. The reason for this is a matter of some debate, stemming from the contradictory information surrounding the Devil Gene. Either Heihachi does not have the Devil Gene, or he has somehow managed to avoid activating it.

G Corporation
G Corporation, a cutting-edge biotech firm making revolutionary advances in the field of biogenetics research. It was the G Corporation that accidentally stumbled upon the remains of Kazuya Mishima during a routine research mission at Mt. Shirane, subsequently taking Kazuya's body to the G Corporation’s Nebraska and Shahrukh research facility. After his resurrection, Kazuya offered his body as research material for genetic experimentation to investigate, determine and harness the true mechanism of the Devil that resided within his body.

Heihachi Mishima had discovered that G Corporation found the remains of Kazuya, and had extracted and analyzed the genetic data. In fact, Heihachi learned that the G Corporation was in the midst of creating a new life form by using the data.

Friday, December 25. The Tekken Force, sent in by Heihachi Mishima raided G Corporation’s maximum security research laboratory in Nepal. The bottom floors of the building were obliterated, and the remaining data storage facility containing file servers was airlifted by a group of heavy-duty helicopters. At the same time, a separate unit led by Heihachi himself, infiltrated the G Corporation underground research facility in Nebraska, where Kazuya’s remains were supposedly preserved. The operation in Nebraska failed, due to the unexpected intervention of Kazuya Mishima.

G Corporation, no longer needing Kazuya after this, betray him and make an assassination attempt on his life, in which Heihachi Mishima is almost killed, as witnessed in Tekken 5. In retaliation, at the conclusion of the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, Kazuya takes revenge and slays the division of G Corporation that betrayed him, taking over the company and using it to counter the Mishima Zaibatsu.

G Corporation is also the employer of "Jack" developer and engineer, Jane, and the deceased mother of Leo.

Mishima Zaibatsu
Mishima Zaibatsu is the company owned by the Mishima family, including Jinpachi, Heihachi, Kazuya, and Jin. A recurring theme of the Tekken series is the constant change of ownership that occurs when the current owner is defeated or declared dead. Thus far, Jinpachi Mishima, Heihachi Mishima, Kazuya Mishima, and Jin Kazama have all gained ownership this way.

Owned originally by Jinpachi Mishima, the Zaibatsu was taken over by Heihachi Mishima, who has run the company for over 40 years except for two brief interims. The companies grouped together in the syndicate include the Mishima Financial Empire, Mishima Heavy Industries and the mercenary group known as Tekken Force. The Mishima Zaibatsu is the main sponsor of the King of Iron Fist (Tekken-Ou in Japanese) tournaments, the central events of the video games.

According to Lili's ending, the fictional Monaco-based oil company Rochefort Enterprises is a business partner with the Zaibatsu.

Ownership
The constant change of ownership of the Zaibatsu is one of the Tekken series' many recurrent themes. To date, there are five changes of ownership canonically known:

* 40 years ago: Jinpachi Mishima lost the Zaibatsu to Heihachi.
* 23 years ago: Heihachi Mishima lost the Zaibatsu to Kazuya.
* 21 years ago: Kazuya Mishima lost the Zaibatsu to Heihachi.
* 2 months ago: Heihachi is presumed dead and Jinpachi takes control of the Zaibatsu.
* According to Tekken 6 story translations, Jin is now the current leader.

Mishima High School
This school is part of the Mishima Zaibatsu conglomerate, and it is attended by three characters in the game series: Jin Kazama, Ling Xiaoyu and Miharu Hirano. It is a stage in Tekken Tag Tournament.
