Torque Limiting Washers (also known as Limit lock washers) are a type of lock-washer used in a variety of torque-sensitive threaded fastening applications and is intended to limit the tightening torque to a designated level. There are limit lock washers that limit torque by acting on the nut and versions that limit torque by acting on the bolt in cases where the nut is embedded or there is no nut. Torque limiting lock washers prevent thread damage and or stripping in bolts and nuts due to over tightening. Damage to fastened parts, such as fissures or shape distortion is prevented. Disc cutters For angle grinders or disc cutters a special version of limit lock design prevents discs becoming seized or stuck in self-tightening power tools while allowing tool free disc removal.
