Lightguides

Lightguides (stylized LightGuides) are a Scottish indie rock band with members Mark Cowan on lead vocals and guitar, Mark’s brother Dave Cowan on drums and backing vocals, and the brothers’ childhood friend Martin Murray on guitar.
The band’s musical style is somewhere between Green Day and This Town Needs Guns or Foals. It can be described as a mix of hard rock, pop punk and math rock, with a heavy, loud sound and intricate guitar riffs and drumming. The band does not have a bassist.
The band started out in being called WeHungYourLeader, and released an 4 song EP in 2008. In 2010, the band released their first mini-album, Past & Present. The album included re-recordings the 4 songs from the WeHungYourLeader EP, as well as 4 new songs. The album, as well as all the band’s work, has received favorable reviews but not mainstream success. In 2011, the band released the single “Old Bucket Seats”, which was followed by the mini-album Samba Samba Samba, in 2011.
The band knows other Scottish indie rock bands, and has done a split single with Make Sparks containing the songs “The Lion and the Pocketwatch” and "The Casting Call". The band has also had their songs “Warhorse” and “The Casting Call” put into compilations. The band has supported the likes of Frightened Rabbit, Twin Atlantic, The Rocket Summer, Silverstein and The Xcerts. They have also played T in the Park and headlined at .
The band hosts a Christmas party every year. They were scheduled to have new music in 2014 and have played new songs at their shows, but have yet to release any of these songs.
