Leonie Wood

Leonie Wood (born 18 December 1961) is an Australian journalist who is one of the most senior editorial staff at The Age newspaper, in Melbourne.
She worked as a business reporter for The Age for over ten years before being moved to general news by editor Andrew Jaspan, where she focused on court reporting and features for the Saturday edition. She is classified as a senior writer.
She was educated at the University of Melbourne where she obtained an Arts degree. Wood initially obtained a cadetship at The Sun-News Pictorial (later the Herald Sun) in 1985. From 1987 she was moved to the business desk of that newspaper. In 1989 she left News Limited during a period of downsizing and moved to the Australian Associated Press where she continued as a business reporter, running its finance news desk.
In 1991, she left AAP and later obtained work at The Australian Financial Review. After two years there, she left their employment and travelled to many different places, including Nepal where she met the father of her son. In 1995, she returned to Melbourne and by 1996 was hired by The Age as a business reporter.
She lives in Armadale, Melbourne with her ten-year-old son Charlie.
