Leandro Castro Jean (born June 15, 1989 in La Romana, La Romana, Dominican Republic) is a minor league baseball right fielder who is a free agent. He was signed by Phillies scout Wil Tejada in 2007 and began his professional career that year. He hit .278 with 24 steals in 33 attempts, 5 triples, 3 doubles, 41 runs and 37 RBI in 59 games for the 2007 DSL Phillies. He also had 10 assists in center field. With the GCL Phillies in 2008, he batted .298 in 44 games. The outfielder was a New York-Pennsylvania League mid-season All-Star in 2009, hitting .316 with 81 hits and 18 stolen bases in 27 attempts for the NYPL's Williamsport Crosscutters. He also hit .152 in 22 games for the Lakewood BlueClaws that year for an overall average of .283. He led he NYPL in hits and total bases. Baseball America named him the league's 16th-best prospect. With Lakewood for all of 2010, he hit .257 with 9 triples, 78 runs and 81 RBI. He was caught stealing in 13 of 35 attempts and was 8 for 16 at the plate with the bases loaded. He also had 12 assists. Baseball America named his throwing arm the best among the league's outfielders. He batted .277 with 10 homers in 56 games for the 2011 Clearwater Threshers in an injury-shortened campaign. He was 1 for 5 that winter for the Dominican Winter League's Estrellas Orientales. He hit .287 with 35 doubles, 66 runs and 71 RBI for the Reading Phillies in 2012, drawing 17 walks. He batted .326 against left-handed pitchers and .271 against right-handed pitchers. In 2013, his first season at Triple-A, he hit .256 with eight home runs, 55 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 27 attempts for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs; he had 15 walks and made 8 errors.
