Laura BenAmots (born 1962) is a New York born painter who spent her formative years as a child in Israel. Personal life Laura Kaufman was daughter of composer Fredrick Kaufman and sculptor Florence Kaufman. In 1991 when she married Israeli composer Ofer Ben-Amots and painted under the name of Laura BenAmots since then. She has also painted under her previous married name Laura Innes during a time in Scotland and earlier under her maiden name Laura Kaufman. BenAmots now paints and teaches in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Education Formal training began at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. Later: Several years at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art in Philadelphia, PA; BFA in Painting from Tyler School of Art and Design at Temple University and an MFA in Printmaking and Book Arts with an emphasis on Painting from the Philadelphia University of the Arts. Career Assistant Professor and Gallery Director at Pikes Peak Community College Art Department. Paintings exhibited throughout the United States. Career highlights include the 2011-13 exhibits include: Sangre de Cristo Art Center in Pueblo CO, Colorado College Coburn Gallery & I.D.E.A. Space, Colorado Springs Fine Art Center. 2012; Battle Portraits: Wounded Lions Wounded Lambs exhibition, Colorado Springs; 2012 publication of BATTLE PORTRAITS Wounded Lions Wounded Lambs by Art Book Publishing at the Business of Art Center and the 2008 publication of Eros On Canvas by Last Gasp Publishing (a collection of her erotic paintings of the same title); 2011 Battle Portraits preview at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center; 2006 selection as featured artist for the Pikes Peak Region Fund for the Arts gala exhibit; a August 2000 one-woman-exhibit of her Carnal Furniture at the Coburn Gallery at Colorado College; inclusion in the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance Permanent Collection; exhibits at the Abecedarian Gallery and Edge Gallery in Denver and the Print Club gallery in Philadelphia.
