Last Desert Gunner

Last Desert gunner is a short story by Justin Baca. It is about Captain Bernard Max, the pilot of the Imperial shadow who serves in the United North American Armed Forces (UNAAF)in the Middle East in 2069. Bernard gets involved in a war game between the world powers that can have devastating consequences on the world.The story is broken up into three parts, first being part being called "Rage of a Immortal" second being "5 pieces to death" and last part "Death to Imperialism"

Back story

The story starts in Hawaii were Bernard Max, the last F-22 fighter pilot, gets assign a new position in the newly formed United North American Armed Forces. His mission is to use the highly advance Imperial shadow and protect UNA property and interests in the Middle East. The middle east is dominated by the world powers after the aftermath of world war 3, were Iran nuclear missiles and reactors were sabotage and destroyed much of the known middle east. The world powers at the end of ww3 sent soldiers and machines to protect and invest in the new territory.

Rage of a Immortal

Bernard and Imperial Shadow are sent to Umm Qasr, in what was Iraq, to protect the port, because that's the only territory the UNA has. Within two months of being in Umm Qasr, the UNAAF sent the Navy to be resupply at Umm Qasr naval resupplying station. Bernard meets with Admiral Britton, the meeting go causal, yet the Britton gives orders to Bernard to head south towards what is European territory to investigate "fighting among our allies". In reality, the UNAAF want to know about the technological advances that the world powers have. The Imperial Shadow makes it a small city but, is spotted by a European attack party. Outnumbered by 65 to one, it uses its Mark 9 guns to attack the nearest ones, the problem is that the party is made of German Mechas who use indirect method to fight. The Imperial Shadow takes out three Mecha, when he comes under Rocket and missiles fire. The imperial's on board computer takes over and goes into defense mode. The missile defense takes out all the missiles and rockets, then the imperial shadow goes on the offensive. the imperial shadow takes out several mechas until, the head of the German forces comes out to fight him. Code name Desert Fox, the German Mecha is well built and uses 155mm main gun, but the imperials shadow makes short work, after firing two 8in round and takes out it legs. The explosion causes by the Desert fox causes chaos and the imperial shadow fled the seen.
