Lanny Quarles

Lanny Quarles is an American digital artist and writer.
Beginning as a zine publisher in the 1990s in Factsheet Five with his Toenail Gazooks,
Quarles began creating one of a kind hand-made books that were sold in Portland, Oregon at Reading Frenzy. Gus Van Sant was exposed to Quarles in the home of a friend and asked to contribute text for Van Sant's novel . Quarles has been published in numerous underground publications including several issues of Abraham Lincoln, a popular Flarf poetry magazine, and Mark Amerika's Black Ice Magazine. His first digital art publication was in Kathleen Zigler, and Nick Greco's Extreme Graphics, published by the Hearst Corporation. Currently, Lanny Quarles is represented by Cohn Drennan Contemporary in Dallas, Texas. Quarles is also known for his long-running blogs, and was one of the first poetry bloggers beginning in 2002 with his Phaneronoemikon. His current blog is called Jellybean Weirdo with Electric Snake-Fang.
