History There has been schools in Langtoft for around about 250 years, but the first reference of the school was in 1776 when a school house was being re-roofed, but we do not know were it was. There was a dame school next to the village hall as shown on a 1813 map of the area. * 1859 was the start of the current school and was built by a combination of a rich family (willoughby d'eresby. * 1865 logbooks show The school year was dominated by the agricultural. the headmaster was for punished for over-use of the cane. * 1986- the school move to it current site and had only 90 children. * 1998-2000 4 mobile classrooms added but as 0f 2005 only 2 remain but used as art room and after a school club * 2005- a further 2 classrooms, staff room, library and an extension of the hall to meet the increased number of children. * 2007- a wind turbine was installed. As of 2006/07 school year it has 210 children Headmasters * 1800s-1867 Mr Pimlott * 1867-1881 lot's of headmasters that lasted only a short time * 1881-1899 Mr Matthew Knott and employed his family as teachers * 1899-1914 Mr E Bager (died in 1914) * 1914-1919 Mr J R Towning temporarily became head master then thomas winiall did but Towning came back before the going to fight in the war. * H J Harding took over until 1919. * 1919-1926 Mr Towning returned from the war a took over again. * 1926-1943 Mr G Power (died in 1943) the school took a lot of children from hull in 1941/42 * 1944-1959 Mr A Bett * 1959-1964 Mr R J Underwood * 1964-1981 Mr A LIsley * 1982-2007 Mr R Platt * 2007- Mr J McCullough Most info from LANGTOFT A Portrait of South Lincolnshire Village by Jean Thomas and Diana Branch
