Lane Tech Girls Soccer is the varsity girls’ program at Lane Technical College Prep High School. The team has won a record 16 Chicago Public League (CPL) girls soccer championships, more than any other school. History Girls’ soccer was officially sanctioned by the CPL in 1994. Lane Tech won its first city title in 1996 and quickly became a perennial powerhouse, regularly reaching the final and securing more city championships than any other program in CPL history.<ref name="CPLTitles" /> City Championship Finals Lane Tech has appeared in numerous city finals, with championship victories in: * 1996, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015-2019, 2021-2025 (total 16). 2024-25 Season Lane Tech finished the 2024-25 season with a 22-4-2 record, ranked: * #1 in the CPL Premier Division * #1 in the CPS City Tournament * #4 in IHSA Class 3A statewide rankings * #4 in Illinois (all divisions) * #90 nationally in the MaxPreps rankings<ref name="MaxPreps2025" /> In the IHSA playoffs, Lane advanced past York, New Trier, and Evanston before falling to Barrington in the super-sectional round.<ref name="CPS2025Quote"/> Notable Players * Scout Murray - Scored a hat trick in the 2021 city final; key midfield leader. * Mary Rau - Scored the 2022 city title-winning goal.<ref name="CPS2022" /> * Grace Carman - Scored the game-winning goal in the 2025 sectional final.<ref name="CPS2025Quote"/> Coaching Lane Tech Girls Soccer has been guided by a series of head coaches who each left a mark on the program’s legacy: * Jamie Burbano (1994-2001) - Coached Lane Tech through its earliest years in CPL girls soccer, reaching the city finals in the inaugural seasons and winning the first city title in 1996.<ref name="LTSoccerHistory" /> * Andrew Ricks (2003-2007) - Led the team to three finals and captured city championships in 2004 and 2006.<ref name="LTSoccerHistory" /> * Mike Wasielewski (2008-2013) - Oversaw one of Lane Tech's most dominant eras, winning city titles in 2010, 2011, and 2013, along with multiple IHSA Regional championships. His 2010 team posted a 20-3-1 record.<ref name="LTSoccerHistory" /> * Michelle Vale (early 2020s-2022) - Under her leadership, Lane Tech secured multiple consecutive city championships and set the stage for postseason breakthroughs.<ref name="CPS2025Quote"/> * Sean Harkness (2023-present) - The current head coach. Led the team to its 10th consecutive CPL city title in 2023, and in 2025 guided Lane Tech to their first IHSA sectional championship. The venue has hosted several CPL playoff and city final matches. Legacy Lane Tech Girls Soccer stands as a symbol of sustained excellence in public school athletics. The team’s success, alongside rivals such as Whitney Young and Amundsen, has elevated the level of girls' soccer across the CPL.
