Aaron Byrd

Aaron Byrd (born March 28, 1981) is a former American soccer player who played in the Canadian Soccer League, and the Major Arena Soccer League. He is currently the head coach for Motor City FC in the Women's Premier Soccer League.
Playing career
Byrd began his professional career in 2004 signing with Windsor Border Stars of the Canadian Professional Soccer League. In his debut season he won the Open Canada Cup by defeating Ottawa St. Anthony Italia. He concluded the season as the clubs second highest goalscorer with eight goals. In 2005, he had a remarkable season finishing as the leagues top goalscorer with 17 goals. Throughout the regular season he helped Windsor clinch a postseason berth by finishing third in the Western Conference. In the postseason Windsor were eliminated in the first round after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Oakville Blue Devils. In the Open Canada Cup tournament he helped defend Windsors title by contributing a goal in 3-0 victory over London City. For the remainder of his tenure with Windsor he served as team captain, helped the club reach the postseason for four straight seasons, and was selected for the CSL National Division All-Star squad.In 2009, Windsor ceased operations, and terminated all player contracts. Byrd left Windsor as the clubs all-time highest goal and assist leader.
In 2011, Byrd signed with Detroit Waza of the Major Arena Soccer League. He played with the organization for four seasons and won two Eastern Division titles,United States Open Cup. He featured in 36 matches, and recorded 32 goals. He retired after the 2014/2015 season after a serious knee injury. On October 6, 2015 was appointed head coach for Motor City FC of the Women's Premier Soccer League.
