Kyle Cherek (born December 22, 1969) is a culinary presenter, television personality, and producer. He is currently the host of the independently produced television show Wisconsin Foodie, which is broadcast in six Midwestern states on Public Television Stations. Career Cherek began as the host of the television program Wisconsin Foodie in 2008. Initially broadcast on the Hearst-Argyle television station WISN-12, the show expanded its broadcast to multi-state Public Television Stations in 2013. Three years later, the show won an Emmy for the episode titled "Stoney Acres Pizza Farm" at the Chicago/Midwest Regional Emmys in the category of Outstanding Achievement for Magazine Programming, Series. Cherek is also a regular contributor to public radio stations WUWM ("Milwaukee Public Radio") and Wisconsin Public Radio. As a presenter, his commentary on the concurrent closure of Black Earth Meats and a Cargill Beef processing facility won a Wisconsin Broadcaster Award for Best Editorial in 2014. In 2016, Cherek resented "We Eat What We Are" at TEDxUWMilwaukee. Cherek's video web series, Chef Talk with Kyle Cherek, first aired on YouTube in 2012. The series is composed of short and candid conversations with chefs from the greater Milwaukee region. In November 2015, the series surpassed its 100th episode. Cherek has been a regular food contributor on Fox 6 Now since 2012 and has made appearances on the Travel Channel and the Food Network. In 2015, Cherek was a guest on What'Ya Know? for Wisconsin Public Television. Personal Cherek was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and is the youngest of 11 siblings. Cherek graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a major in English. He currently resides in Milwaukee with his wife and their two children.
