Krishna Kishore Jasthi is an officer from Indian Revenue Service from the 1990 batch of the Indian Civil Services Examination. He is known to be an hard working officer of outstanding calibre, impeccable integrity and for his numerous achievements. Presently he is the Chief Executive Officer of the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board, which is the premier organisation for promoting investments and developing policies for economic Development of the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. <big>Family Background:</big> He was born on 18th February 1964 at Hyderabad, India. His father Justice J. Eswara Prasad is an eminent legal luminary with a very distinguished record, who held distinguished positions including that of High Court Judge of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka High Courts, Chairmanship of Court for prevention of Land Grabbing, Chairmanship of National Appellate Tribunal for Forfeited Properties etc. His mother Mrs. J. Chamanthi is an eminent lawyer. His paternal Grandfather Late Mr. J. Sambasiva Rao was an outstanding District Judge and his paternal Grandmother Late Mrs. J. Sitamahalakshmi was a leading lawyer, Member of Legislative Council in Madras Presidency and Andhra Pradesh State and a very well known social worker and philanthropist. He has two sisters and three brothers. His wife Mrs. Jasthi Madhavi is an homemaker. His has two children, daughter Sonali, who is studying for MS in Technopreneurship at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and son Abhinav Krishna who is studying in 11th standard at the United World College Mahindra at Pune. <big>Educational Background:</big> Krishna Kishore Jasthi has an educational career which is very inspiring and speaks volumes about his determination and ‘never give up’ attitude. He did his schooling in SSC at St. Patricks High School, Secunderabad. He had a below average academic career in school, having barely managed to pass in 3rd class in 10th standard, securing a mere 49% in the year 1978. Later he joined the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning at Whitefield, Bangalore in 1978 and Graduated in B.COM in 1983. The college is well known for it’s value centric education system with emphasis on Education in Moral and Human Values. Inspired by the teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Swami Vivekananda and stories of Abraham Lincoln, Robert Bruce and other inspirational personalities, Krishna Kishore put behind his lacklustre academic career at school and started studying hard with renewed vigour. As a result, he went on to pass in first class in his Intermediate 1st year and finally graduated in Commerce with distinction. Thereafter, he successfully completed the formidable Chartered Accountancy exam which had a success rate of only 5 %, within a short period of 4 years. Subsequently, inspired by the desire to serve the nation, he wrote the most challenging exam in India, the Civil Services Examination in 1990 (with less than 0.5% success rate among the over 300000 candidates) and succeeded in getting into the prestigious Indian Revenue Service. <big>Career:</big> Prior to joining the Civil Services, from 1983 to 1991, Krishna Kishore worked with the leading Chartered Accountancy firm, M/s Brahmayya and Co, at Hyderabad. After selection in the Indian Revenue Service, Central Board of Direct Taxes, Dept. of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India, from September 1991 to March 1993, Krishna Kishore was Officer on Training at the National Academy of Direct Taxes, Nagpur. From March 1993 to October 1998, he was posted as Assistant / Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax at Chennai and Bangalore cities. Later, from October 1998 to October 1999, he was appointed by the Finance Minister, as the Deputy Director of Income Tax (Inv.) and Senior Technical Officer, Central Economic Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Thereafter, from October 1999 to October 2000, he was appointed to the coveted position of Private Secretary to Union Minister of State for Agriculture, Government of India. From October 2000 till July 2002, he worked in the prestigious assignment as the Officer on Special Duty to Union Minister of Rural Development, Government of India. Later, from July 2002 to September 2003, he was the Officer on Special Duty to Union Minister for Urban Development, Government of India. After 4 year stint in assignments at the highest level in India, with Union Ministers, Krishna Kishore returned to the Income Tax Department and was appointed from September 2003 to June 2005. as the Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Range 1, Faridabad. Later from June 2005 to January 2012, he was posted in Hyderabad as the Additional Commissioner of Income Tax- Ranges 2 / 4 / 9, TDS, Judicial, Technical & Headquarters (Administration), Hyderabad. On promotion, he was posted from January 2012 to December 2012, as the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), Vijayawada. From December 2012 to June 2014, he was posted as the administrative Commissioner of Income Tax, Guntur, having jurisdiction over Guntur, Nellore and Prakasam Districts of Andhra Pradesh. Later, he was appointed to the prestigious assignment of Private Secretary to Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Government of India, New Delhi, from June 2014 to August 2015. Thereafter, he was appointed by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, in August 2015, as the Chief Executive Officer, Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board. <big>Achievements and other important aspects:</big> Krishna Kishore was awarded in 1993, the Finance Minister's Gold Medal by Shri Manmohan Singh, the then Hon’ble Union Minister for Finance, Government of India, for 'Best All Round Performance’ in the 45th Batch of the Indian Revenue Service. Krishna Kishore successfully held positions of leadership on numerous occasions. At the National Academy of Direct Taxes he held leadership positions including Group Leader, Film Secretary, Cultural Secretary, President of the IRS trainee officers association (President Mess Committee) etc. He also held the position of the General Secretary of the Indian Revenue Service Officers Association, Andhra Pradesh. He successfully organised several programmes, functions etc, and won all round appreciation for his leadership skills and organisational capabilities. Krishna Kishore is popular for his public speaking skills. He addressed numerous gatherings including Schools, Colleges, Universities, Voluntary organisations etc, as Chief Guest and his speeches were acclaimed. He has also addressed Departmental Officers, members of Institute of Chartered Accountants, Chambers of Commerce etc., on numerous occasions on provisions of the Income Tax Act, Principles of Management, and on other important topics. Krishna Kishore wrote a book in 1996 on Income Tax Provisions pertaining to charitable and religious organizations which was well appreciated by many including the eminent jurist Late Shri Nani A. Palkhivala. Later, in 1997 he wrote an article on National Highways, titled "National development through development of National Highways" in 1997, which received high appreciation and was one of the main articles which led to policy for development of National Highways by the NDA Government in 1998. Krishna Kishore co-authored a book in 2000 titled "Towards an Urban Revolution" along with his father Shri Justice J. Eswara Prasad, which received significant appreciation from important sections. This book deals with development of an holistic Urban Development which caters to needs of environment, ecology, healthy living, aesthetic surroundings, wholesome ambience, smart technologies, visionary planning process, architecture emphasising heritage and tourism etc. The book also talked about the National Campaign for Cleanliness, similar to the Swachh Bharat mission. This book received wide appreciation from Prime Minister, Ministers, Chief Ministers, Judges, Chief Secretaries and others. As Private Secretary to Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Krishna Kishore played a major role in revival of Spice Jet Airlines, evolving measures for revival of Air India, improving airports infrastructure in India, development of the new civil aviation policy etc. His stint at Civil Aviation Ministry earned him a lot of appreciation from all quarters. As senior officer of the Income Tax Department, Krishna Kishore has been successful in ensuring payment of taxes running into thousands of crores of rupees and had consistently exceeded the targets set. Has an appreciable and clean track record. He was known as a dynamic, honest and hardworking officer. Krishna Kishore received the National Award - Certificate of Merit and Appreciation from Central Board of Direct Taxes, Ministry of Finance, for excellence in Assessments in 2011. He also received National Award - Certificate of Merit and Appreciation from Central Board of Direct Taxes, Ministry of Finance, for excellence in Infrastructure Development in 2014. Krishna Kishore took part in the International Symposium on Law and Religion, sponsored by University of Washington School of Law at USA in 2002 and presented a paper titled ‘Religious and Cultural Diversity, Unity and Synthesis in India’, which was well appreciated. He completed Mid-Career Training Programme at Management Development Institute, Gurgaon and Duke University USA, in February-April 2011. He also completed Advanced Mid Career Training at IIM, Bangalore and IBFD, Amsterdam, in June-July 2015. Krishna Kishore visited many countries on official work including USA, UK, France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Brussels, Ghana, Togo, Burkina Faso, Benin, Estonia, Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Malaysia and Singapore.
