Kony is a mobile application development platform for building mobile, tablet, desktop, and kiosk applications. Kony is one of several platform supports that developers can use to build mobile applications for consumers and enterprises. Kony has an office in Orlando, Florida. Its development centers are located in Hyderabad and its sales center is in Bangalore, India. The Company Kony (formerly KonyOne Platform) is an enterprise mobile application platform. Kony was founded by BITS, Pilani Alumnus and past CEO/Co-founder of Intelligroup, Raj Koneru in 2007. The company has raised a series of capital from several venture capital firms in the past. In 2012, it acquired Australian SAP consulting company Sky Technologies. Sky Technologies, a mobility solutions provider specializing in SAP implementations. Sky’s technology is designed to integrate into any back-end SAP application, allowing SAP users to access data within their SAP systems (e.g. CRM, ERP) through mobile applications. The platform allows connectivity into other proprietary CRM and ERP systems and enables offline and sync functionality to field-level data. Other connectors include Microsoft SharePoint, Oracle PeopleSoft and Oracle Siebel. Currently, Kony has over 350 customers. Kony has been placed in Gartner's Magic Quadrant of leaders in mobility in 2013 and in 2014. The Kony Platform The platform is used by developers to write, deploy and manage mobile applications for native and web channels (also known as multi-channel app development). Kony supports iOS, Google Android, HTML5, Windows and Blackberry. Support for Blackberry 10 was announced in Feb 2013, support for Windows 8 in October 2012, support for Apple iOS 6, iPhone 5 and Passbook in September 2012. Kony has been integrated with native platform SDKs to execute natively across devices. The run-time consists of a Mobile App Server, and a virtual machine that implements the scripting language (JavaScript or Lua) used by Kony, coupled with the library for each device platform - BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Java, Symbian, and browser clients. In June 2012, Kony added JavaScript support to its platform, to allow development of both native and mobile web applications. Mobile Application Manager Kony Mobile Application Manager is a web-based application set of tools from which Kony or third party applications can be managed, monitored and analyzed. Mobile application management handles provisioning, policy management and device feature management from within a secure client container that separates corporate data from personal data on the end users' device.
