Konstantin Popov (;c. 1963 - January 20, 2010) was a Russian journalist who died aged 47 from injuries sustained after a beating while in police custody in Tomsk, Siberia. Police officer Alexei Mitayev confessed to the beating. Popov had been arrested for public intoxication while on vacation.<ref nameStack/> However, Popov's death was not the deliberate killing of a journalist, which has become commonplace in Russia in recent years.<ref nameStack/> Popov previously worked as a spokesman for the Yukos oil company which has since gone bankrupt.<ref nameStack/> He had gone on to open a publishing company and a printing plant, and also wrote columns on economics.<ref nameStack/>
