Kobi Arad

Kobi Arad is a pianist and composer. He earned a Doctorate Degree in Third Stream (Established by Pulitzer award-winning composer Gunther Schuller) at the New England Conservatory. Kobi Arad is living, composing and performing in NYC.
Apart from composers such as Schoenberg and Berg - Arad's influences lay in Jazz and Funk; these elements are fused together with music of his roots in Israel and the broader Middle East.

NYC. Blue Note's official bulletin wrote: "Arad is one of the most
Prominent, Prolific and Versatile pianist-composers-producers emerging
from Israel. Having made collaborations with Stevie Wonder (who
shows interest in using one of Kobi's songs for his daughter Aisha's
upcoming album) and other greats - Kobi's Soulful style spans and
brings together Classical Modern, Jazz and Neo-Soul. Kobi lives,
composes and performs in New York City."
Arad re-composed the vocal opera Wir bauen eine Stadt by Paul Hindemith which was comissioned and performed by the Israel Chamber Orchestra in Tel Aviv Museum of Art. His compositions have been played on Israel National Radio and he has appeared with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in a televised show 'The music of Ravel' which was part of an educational televised series. Arad has co-transcribed works by Dizzy Gillespie which have been published by Hal Leonard.

14 June, 1999, Proph. Hajdu, Kobi Arad, Celist Yoni Niv and Zmira
Lutski have held a
live panel dicussion(aired live in Israel National Radio ('Kol
Hamuzika')) pertaining the future of jazz and impovised music in
Israel.
