Klitschko Foundation

Klitschko Foundation - is the all-Ukrainian charity fund, founded by the famous Ukrainian heavyweight boxers Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko in 2003.
The main directions are popularization of a healthy lifestyle and implementation of educational and sport projects.

History
In 1998, Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko founded the International Fund for Sports Development "Sport — XXI century". Its main goals were support of young talented athletes and sport competitions in order to popularize a healthy lifestyle as an alternative to negative social influence.
Since the very beginning of their professional sports career the Klitschko brothers participated in numerous charity projects not only in Ukraine but in many other countries. In this way they united society to find solutions for serious social issues.
In 2002, they started cooperating with UNESCO. As a part of the "Education for children in need" project in 2004 Wladimir from himself and his elder brother Vitali donated 125 000 euros. This money was passed to the "Geomag" company representatives by a special UNESCO ambassador Ute Ohoven.
In 2006, the Klitschko brothers were designated as UNESCO Champions for Sport for their accomplishments in sports, perennial help to unfortunate kids and promotion of the organization's principles and goals.
Fund Establishment
The Klitschko brothers participated in lots of different international projects, which helped them to realize the need to create their own charity to implement educational and sports projects on professional and regular basis.
In 2003, the "Klitschko brothers Foundation" was founded. Later, the whole Klitschko family joined the Fund in order to introduce family values into the organisation. In 2014 the name of the organization was changed to Klitschko Foundation and the new identity was created: the K-man logo which represents the first letter of the Klitschko last name and is an image of a person making steps towards its goal with hands up high.

Educational projects
===== "Choose With Your Heart" =====
The project lasted from September 2005 till 2006 in cooperation with TM Chernihivske and NaUKMA. Three directions were formed:
* "Students Nominal Grants" - 8 grants were provided to second-year MA students of NaUKMA who studied specific fields defined by the partners of the project;
* "Create Yourself" - professional-skills-development trainings and seminars for NaUKMA students and graduates as well as their self-development in different fields;
* "Professors Nominal Scholarship Fund" - scholarships provided to encourage young scientists from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of NaUKMA.
===== "Let's Support Education Together" =====
Social project lasted in 2006-2007. 100 students from 10 leading Ukrainian universities received grants, each worth 5000 hryvnias for their outstannding study achievements: scientific contests, publications, active life position. Total fund of the project was worth 500 000 hryvnias.

===== "Heal the Society" =====
Youth project organized in cooperation with Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Lasted between 2009 and 2012. Young people aged from 16 to 25 years old had to write an essay on the cognominal topic.
The aim of the project was to make youth more aware of the universal values and get them think about the ways of healing, or improving, the society and how they personally could contribute to it. On the next level of the contest authors of the best essays determined the ways of improving the socity and develope practical measures to implement their ideas in their schools or universities, living areas or communities.
10 best projects received 3000 hryvnias grants from the Klitschko Foundation and Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Authors of the most successful model of a healthy society got a chance to visit Germany and share their experience with their foreign colleagues.
===== "Eco-ideas from all over the world" =====
Lasted in 2010-2014 with the support of Panasonic. In Ukraine the contest was held as a part of "Eco Picture Diary" project which was first implemented in 2008 in Japan by Panasonic.
The goal of the project is to teach children to trear nature with respect, popularize eco-culture among youth and to attract them to nature care movement. During the project over 4000 aplications were received from chidrenfrom 7 to 15 years old. The winners of the national contest were always noted at the international finals.
In 2014, the topic of saving cultural heritage of Ukraine became an innovation, which is the main goal of UNESCO.
Sports projects
===== "Sport Ukraine we build together" =====
Joint project of the Klitschko Foundation and Nemiroff aimed to modernize public boxing gyms which started in 2007 and ended in 2011. The goal was to make sports more available for yong people so that everyone willing to do sports had an opportunity to do this in modern gyms for free.
The winners are Nemyriv and Zhmerynka (Vinnytsia region), Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyi (Kyiv region), Mariupol (Donetsk region), Ternopil, Hola Prystan (Kherson region), Kolomyia (Ivano-Frankivsk region) and Khmelnytskyi.
===== "Healing of Little Kyiv Citizens " =====
The project existed from 2007 to 2009. During this time, Kyiv hospitals, clinics and children's establishments received medicine and vitamings. More than 30.000 children in 15 medical and 6 children's establishment received medical aid.
Free medication worth 200.000 hryvniaswas given to the children who suffered from Chernobyl disaster at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, to the children from large families, to orphans and to those with no parental care.
Information campaigns
===== "No to drugs - no to AIDS" =====
Information campaign that lasted between 2005 and 2007. During this time a number of social videos about the effects of drugs was shot. Their common title was "Make a right choice".
The logical addition to it was a "Positive people" documentary filmed with the support of the Klitschko Foundation and The International Renaissance Foundation. The movie was presented on the 1 of December 2005 on World AIDS Day. The aim of the movie was to draw attention to the problem of the victims of this illness.
===== "The Alphabet of Your Rights" =====
The alphabet was created and published in 2006 in cooperation with the Council of Europe. It is a Convention on the Rights of a Child, which was signed by the UN in 1989, written in a form of a poem and adapted for children. There were 10.000 copies published.
Other projects
===== "Samsung. Hope for Children" =====
The project was started in 2012 by the Samsung Electronics Ukraine as a part of a global program Samsung Hope for Children. In 2014 the Klitschko Foundation and the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine joined the initiative.
The goal was to to draw attention to the global children cancer problem and to importance of the early diagnosis.
8 hryvnias from each Samsung item bought were transferred to the project account. Therefore, around 130.000 people joined the ptoject and over 1,5 million hryvnias were donated. This money was used to buy ultrasound scanners for cancer departments in Chernivtsi and Kirovohrad.
===== "1000 Children See, 1000 Childrens Hear" =====
Implemenred in 2012. 2000 children with vision and hearing loss received glasses and hearing aids from the Klitschko Foundation and a charity organization Round Table Deutschland. Kids from families with low income participated in the project. Doctors not only individually picked up glasses and hearing aids for children but will consult the kids in the future.
