Klaus Guingand

Klaus Guingand (born 1962) is a French-born contemporary artist. He is best known for his work "Shadows" (1987/2002), a piece on the immortalization of shadows of two hundred international personalities, with this particularity that each personality has posed for him and signed the painting with him. He is also known for “Art warning the World" (2012/2015) her global artwork for the defense of freedom which he created with the participation of 200 visual artists living in the 200 countries of the world. For his creations Guingand uses all the techniques and existing media with the aim of his artworks is not aesthetic but criticism or simply the truth. The subjects of his artworks are eternal questions; time, God, truth, humanity, reality, power, death, our fears. His works often engaged, prophetic or cynical. Guingand was encouraged by the famous American art dealer Leo Castelli and actively supported by the legendary international art critic Pierre Restany.

* 1987/ 2002- He begins his work on the shade by asking international personalities, which he immortalizes the shade on canvas of 2 meters x 1 meter 50. Each work is co-signed by the personality and him. Two hundred personalities have posed for him, including Steven Spielberg, Sean Penn, Leonardo DiCaprio, Oliver Stone and others.
* 1990: Personal exhibition at the "Méta Galerie" Bastille.
