KitaKon

Kita-Kon is a fan run Anime Convention held in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The Conventions are scheduled mid-late August and is a 2 day event. Kita-Kon 2008 will be held at the Victoria Inn on August 28th and 29th.

History
Kita-Kon was first thought of in the spring of 2005 when Daniel D'Amours and John Simko were still attending Highschool. They started discussing about the different conventions around North America and soon got the idea to start their own, but it wasn't until the spring of 2007 that these plans materialized and that it was possible to create Kita-Kon, Thunder Bay's very own Anime Convention.

Kita-Kon in its first year was only attended by 112 people and held inside a dorm of Lakehead University. Though this is minuscule compared to established anime conventions Kita-Kon founders and staff, still saw this event as a success and made the decision to attempt a bigger, more traditional convention in 2008.

Events
Events held at Kita-Kon include Karaoke, Anime Viewings, Cosplay/Masquerade, Dealers Room/Artist Alley, Art Contests including AMVs, and Fan/Staff run Panels.
