Kindasa Water Services

Kindasa Water Services (KWS) is a limited liability company incorporated in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in the year 2000. It is the first private potable water supply company engaged in seawater desalination and distribution of potable water to Jeddah industrial estate and residential complexes in Jeddah.
KWS derived its name from the first seawater desalination plant which was constructed in Jeddah in the early 20th century.
KWS is moving forward with its plans & project to build a comprehensive water distribution network.
KWS Strategies:
• OUR AIM
- Build new plants at different locations within Saudi Arabia and abroad.
- Undertake BOOT (Build Own Operate Transfer) contracts on long term basis.
• OUR VISION
- To be the leading private sector supplier of quality potable water at competitive and sustainable prices.
• MISSION
- To provide the Saudi Industrial Sector with consistent and reliable water supply.
- To participate and invest in the privatization of the water industry in the Kingdom.
Our Technology:
Kindasa Water Services (KWS) has selected cost effective desalination technology called reverse osmosis, the technology of the future. Reverse Osmosis requires lower energy input & less footprint and has no environmental impact and is largely gaining application in sea water desalination around the globe.

For the expansion project, KWS has selected the hybrid pretreatment system which consists of conventional Dual Media Filtration in conjunction with the latest state - of - art Ultra Filtration (UF) process to produce stable RO feed water quality that remains unaffected by the seasonal changes in sea water quality.

The state-of-art control system by SIEMENS-SCADA has also been implemented for the control & monitoring of the desalination plants operation.
Production Capacity:

To keep pace with the growing demand for reliable and consistent quality potable water, Kindasa Water Services (KWS) has been pursuing a comprehensive and ambitious operational program since its inception.
In October 2000, KWS commissioned 14,000 M3/day sea Water reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant and two (2) km long 800 mm diameter GRP potable water transfer pipeline from the desalination plant to the filling station (FS) located outside & adjacent to Jeddah Islamic Port (JIP) Gate No. 9 with two above-ground storage tanks of 15,316 M3 nominal capacity & sixteen (16) water loading arms for water distribution to various industries, housing compounds etc. and another water filling station with six (6) water loading arms adjacent to the desalination plant to cater the water demands inside JIP.

In September 2006, KWS commissioned the state-of-art technology 25,500 m3/day SWRO desalination plant including 10.2 km long 800 mm GRP potable water transfer pipeline from JIP Gate # 9 to Jeddah Industrial City (JIC) Phase # 2.

Presently KWS is executing the expansion of filling station storage tanks capacity by constructing two (2) potable water storage tanks of 30,350 m3 nominal capacity.
Contract award is expected to be released in 2009 for the construction of 8,500 m3/day capacity SWRO train.

Bids have been received for construction of 24.5 km long 800 mm diameter GRP potable water transfer pipeline from ARAMCO Star Roundabout to South Corneiche.
In January 2008 KWS is operating 10,000 m3/day seawater reverse Osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant for Saudi Airlines for Saudi City - Jeddah on Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis.
In January 2009, KWS established Yemen Kindasa Water Services (YKWS) in Hodeida and will be constructing 10,000 to 12,000 m3/day SWRO desalination plant on Build-Operate-Own (BOO) basis to supply water to citizens, industries, etc.

Feasibility study has been completed for the construction of another 17, 000 M3/day SWRO desalination plant at a nearby location inside JIP.
