Kieran Reece Kenlock (born 8 October 1991) is an English football defender currently playing for Crystal Palace Football Club Academy, the youth team for Crystal Palace Football Club. He joined the club in 2004, and in doing so became only the seventh British Afro-Caribbean football player to join the academy. Early Life Born on the 8 October, 1991, Kieran grew up in Brixton, South London, where he played football with neighbours, many of whom went on to become professional footballers. Among the list of people he grew up with are several members of So Solid Crew, Nyron Nosworthy, and Sharon Osbourne. In 2002, Kieran joined Trinity School of John Whitgift, where he began to make a name for himself thanks to his footballing abilities . He became the first player at the school to play for both the U11 and the U14 teams in the same year. He continued to represent his school throughout his time there . Kieran also took part in athletics, where he set the record for high jump at U13 level. He was also a regular basketball player. Kieran left Trinity in 2008, having completed, and passed, his GCSE examinations with two A*s and five As, allowing him to concentrate on football on a full-time basis. Career As well as playing for his school team, Kieran was selected for the Croydon Schools team, a team that consisted of the best players in schools in Croydon. Kieran joined the Crystal Palace Football Club Academy in 2004 . In joining, he became the seventh British Afro-Caribbean football player to do so. He made his debut in January 2005, against Arsenal F.C. Academy. Kieran has started games for the Crystal Palace F.C. Reserves, but has yet to play in a match. In 2007, Kieran injured his right shoulder, during a rugby match for Trinity School. The injury forced him to take a sabbatical from football. However, a mere four days after surgery, he was training with his school team again, on a less intensive exercise program. During his recovery, Kieran was still able to play full matches for Trinity, holding his right arm close to his chest. In January 2009, former Crystal Palace Manager, Peter Taylor, predicted that Kieran would make his debut for the England national football team by 2010. Personal Life Kieran's father is Jamaican and his mother is from England. He is very proud of his Jamaican heritage. He has three brothers, Nathaniel (6), Nicholas (7) and Alex (13). Alex also attends Trinity School. Trivia Kieran has a strong interest in music, especially hip-hop, stemming from his background with So Solid Crew. He also enjoys R&B, jazz, easy listening, soul and reggae, which stems from his Caribbean roots. Kieran is quoted as naming his idols as Thierry Henry, Martin Luther King, Jr., Dr. Julius Hibbert and George W. Bush.
