Ken Pastyl

Kenneth Grownd Pastyl. Enigmatic cult television personality from Newcastle upon Tyne. Star of the series' Life Sketches by Ken Pastyl and Pastyl's Ghost.
While some Pastyl devotees believe the man to be a fictitious amalgamation of Geordie eccentrics there has been evidence uncovered to suggest he did exist.
Life Sketches by Ken Pastyl was a series of short films which combined themed archive film footage and photographs with Pastyl's stream of consciousness narrative. It claims to have been originally aired in the 1970s although this has not been verified by any regional television network.
Pastyl's Ghost was a five part series on the life of Pastyl. In the series, recorded towards the end of his life, Pastyl speaks about his ambitions as a young man. most of which were ill thought out and met with either rejection or catastrophe.
Pastyl was reputed to have been 'discovered' in the long defunct Newcastle public house Chalky's in 1971.
Little is known of Pastyl although it is said he died in poverty despite amassing a large amount of savings.
