Ken McClure is an American politician who is the mayor of Springfield, Missouri, currently serving his third term in office. He was first elected mayor in 2017, and reelected in 2019 and 2021. Education and Professional Life McClure graduated from Missouri State University in 1972 with a degree in history, and then obtained a Master's in History from the University of Missouri in 1974. Upon finishing, he worked for the Missouri Senate Appropriations Committee and Missouri Department of Economic Development. McClure worked for City Utilities of Springfield from 1990 to 1997. In 2004, McClure took a up the position of transition director in for newly elected Governor of Missouri Matt Blunt, whom had been a student of McClure. McClure took on the position of Chief of staff for Blunt until resigning for a position at Missouri State in 2006. He retired from Missouri State University in July 2015, having served as Vice President for Administrative and Information Services, in the same year McClure was elected to Seat D of the Springfield City Council, and in 2017 was subsequently elected to the position of mayor. He was reelected unopposed in 2019 and once more in 2021. He lead the city's response to the COVID-19 pandemic beginning in 2020. Electoral History
