Ken Kelln

Ken Kelln, is the founder of Kelln Solar and Kelln Consulting Ltd. Ken graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1969 with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. His thesis was on Photovoltaic- Solar Energy Converters.
Ken began his professional career at SaskTel (1969-1981), where he was chairman of the Energy Conservation Committee from 1978-1981. He was later employed by SaskPower (1981-1984) as manager of the Commercial Conservation Programs.
Ken became a licensed Mechanical Electrical Consulting Engineer in 1984 and established Kelln Consulting Ltd. to pursue his life-long interest in solar energy, its practical applications and environmental benefits - especially in housing, Ken's passion is energy-efficient housing and technologies that reduce fossil fuel use in our houses. He was chairman of The Solar Energy Society, Regina Chapter from 1979-81.
On October 11, 1979, Ken erected a vertical axis wind generator at a radio site near Lumsden, Saskatchewan, Canada. At this time, Sasktel was considering wind and solar options for it's remote radio-operating facilities.
In 2000, Ken was part of a research project that resulted in a new innovation in cattle water-pumping: a No-Heat Winter-Watering System. This design has since been employed in thousands of livestock grazing settings with a variety of animals, including; cattle, horses, sheep, bison, goats, and other exotic breeds of livestock.
Today Ken continues his work as the President and General Manager of Kelln Solar and Kelln Consulting Ltd. In 2006, he was awarded the Engineering Environmental Excellence Award by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan.
