Keith Haigler

Keith Haigler (circa 1956 - July 4, 1982), also known as "Baby Fou", was a member of a small cult in Jasper, Arkansas, along with his 24 year old wife Kate Haigler, called the Foundation of Ubiquity (or Father of Us). On July 3, 1982 the Haiglers hijacked a Trailways bus and took 15 passengers on board hostage.
The Haiglers stated they were the two witnesses spoken of in the Book of Revelation, and they wanted to speak to local media to, as they put it, "tell the world the messiah has arrived." They stated they would be resurrected if they were killed by police at the scene. The hijackers never directly threatened the hostages, stating it was not their aim to hurt them, and all eventually were released having served the purpose of getting the maximum media attention.
The couple, with their handguns tied to their hands, knelt on the pavement and began to move on their knees towards police. State police snipers then shot both of them in their right shoulders to wound them. Kate then pointed her handgun at police and fired, before turning the gun to her husband and killing him. She then turned the gun on herself and committed suicide. Today the event is used in law enforcement training about the dangers of wounding armed suspects, instead of shooting to kill.
