Karthika Vaidyanathan is an Indian playback singer and musician known for her work in South Indian cinema. Hailing from a musically rich family in Trivandrum, she began training at a young age and later studied under the renowned Smt. Bombay Jayashri. Karthika gained widespread recognition for Kangal Edho from the Tamil film Chithha. Early Life and Background Karthika Vaidyanathan was born on June 12, 1988, in Trivandrum, Kerala, India. She hails from a family with a rich musical heritage. Her father, Thiruvananthapuram R. Vaidyanathan, is a distinguished Mridangam Vidwan, while her mother, Meena Vaidyanathan, is a music graduate. Karthika is the elder daughter, with a younger sister, Keerthana Vaidyanathan. Karthika's musical journey began at the age of three, under the initial tutelage of her mother. Her talent was recognised early on, and at the age of ten, she was awarded the CCRT Scholarship, marking her as a promising young artist deserving of government support. Growing up, she was immersed in music, often listening to her father's concerts and developing her ear by identifying ragas. She completed her early education in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, before earning a degree in Journalism from MOP Vaishnav College in Chennai.
