Kalton Alexander Watson (born 30 April 1992) is an English professional footballer who plays as a central defender for Nottingham Forest F.C. Nottingham Forest Karlton Watson was an integral part of a young Forest side that one there regional section of the Academy Premier League in the 2009/2010 season. Coached by former Forest player and Scotland international Eoin Jess, this team qualified for the play off semi-final with 3 games still to play by beating their main league rivals Sunderland A.F.C. 4-1 at home. They drew Leicester City F.C. away in the semi-final; this side had not lost a league game in nearly 2 years. Leicester were controversially winning 1-0 until very late on when Watson himself powered home a header from a set piece setting up a Forest victory via extra time and penalties. It was his 5th such goal in the last year alone. Forest went on to play a strong Arsenal F.C. side only 2 days after their exhausting encounter with midlands rivals Leicester. Therefore it's not surprising that they lost at the Emirates Stadium 5-3; they did give a very good account of themselves. This was the most successful Forest under 19 side since the team won the competition in 2001. That side included former Forest players Craig Westcarr, Marlon Harewood, , Michael Dawson and Jermaine Jenas. Karlton Watson graduated from the N.F.F.C. Academy at the end of the 2009/2010 season receiving the clubs prestigious "Young Player of the Year" award just before his 18th birthday. He was rewarded with his first professional contract. International career In September 2010 Watson was selected to play for the England national under-19 football team in a game against Slovakia. However, he sustained a substantial ankle injury at the climax of the previous campaign and had to withdraw from the fixture due to injury. He was replaced by Reading F.C.'s Angus Macdonald who has gone on to make 4 appearances; it is believed that Watson would have started in all the European under 19 championship qualifiers. Injury In May 2010 Karlton Watson broke his ankle. It is believed to have been the last game of his season. The injury has proven to be more complicated than originally thought, with a variety of bone fragments to be removed and tendons to be repaired. He is expected to return in September 2011 after a total of 16 months on the sidelines which will also include at least 5 operations.
