Ikechukwu Anthony KANU is a Professor of African Religion and Cultural Studies, Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Tansian University. His areas of interest include African philosophy, African traditional religion, African cultural studies and African bioethics. He is currently the Rector of Villanova Polytechnic, Imesi Ile, Osun State and a Visiting Professor to the University of Jos. He is the founder of the Association for the Promotion of African Studies (APAS) and the Global President of the World Cultural Studies Research Association (WCSRA). He is the founder and Director of Igwebuike Research Institute and the Editor-in-Chief of IGWEBUIKE: An African Journal of Arts and Humanities (IAAJAH); Journal of African Studies and Sustainable Development (JASSD); Villanova Journal of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, and AMAMIHE: Journal of Applied Philosophy. Early life and education Ikechukwu Anthony KANU's birthplace is Imo State, in the Eastern part of Nigeria. His background is at the base of the formation of his cultural philosophy. On 20th November, 1981 Ikechukwu was born into the family of Sir Emmanuel Nwafor Kanu and Cecilia Menwa Kanu, both of Arondizuogu in Imo State. His parents were lecturers in the Federal College of education, Yola, and were Knights of the Roman Catholic Church. His parents ensured that the young Ikechukwu Anthony become schooled and educated in the arts of writing and learning. This journey into the culture of learning began in 1984 when he attended Command Children Nursery and Primary School, Jimeta-Yola, Adamawa State. In 1992, he completed his primary education at the Demonstration Primary School, Jimeta-Yola, Adamawa State. He then proceeded to Army Day Secondary School located in Jimeta-Yola, Adamawa State. In 1994 he was admitted into St. Peter's Minor Seminary, Yola where he completed his secondary school education in 1999. In 2001, he joined the Augustinian Friars who sent him to Saint Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary for his bachelor's degree in philosophy where he graduated with a First Class in Philosophy with certification from the Pontifical Urban University in Rome. After his Novitiate in 2005, he proceeded to Saint Augustine's Major Seminary in 2006 where he began his studies in Theology where he graduated with a First Class Degree in Religion with certification from the University of Jos. He was ordained a Catholic priest in 2009 upon completion of his theological studies. After his ordination, he was appointed to teach philosophy and religion in the Augustinian Institute, Makurdi and Saint Augustine's Major Seminary. During this period, he obtained a Master of Art Degree from the Department of Religion and Human Relations at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka and a second master's degree in Philosophy (Metaphysics) from the University of Nsukka, Nsukka and later acquired a Doctorate Degree in African Traditional Religion from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka - Nigeria. Career Kanu joined the Department of Philosophy, Tansian University where he was raised to the rank of Professor in 2016 at the age of 35. He was then the youngest Professor that Africa had ever had. He went on to obtain certificates in leadership from the following institutions: Harvard University, Boston - USA (2018); HEC Paris, International Business School, Paris - France (2018); University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, USA (2018); Wesleyan University, USA (2018); London Graduate School, London (2019); Commonwealth University, London (2019).<ref name="existential discourse" />
