Richard C. Onwuanibe

Richard Chibikodo Onwuanibe (born 1937) is a Catholic priest from Nigeria. He is an often cited African author. His best known book is A Critique of Revolutionary Humanism: Frantz Fanon published in 1983. He has worked as a professor and an academic administrator.

* Ordained the first Catholic Priest from the Orata clan on April 5, 1964
* University College, Dublin for undergraduate studies in Philosophy and Theology., Degree in English and Latin Classics, graduating in 1967
* University of London for a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, and graduated in1968.
* While in Ireland and England, he did pastoral work in Liverpool and Brighton, England.
* United States of America (USA) in 1968, engaged in pastoral work in St. George’s Parish,Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
* Georgetown University in Washington DC 1968 for postgraduate studies. In 1972, he obtained an in Philosophy and in 1975 he bagged a PhD in the same subject.
* 1975 -1981 Rev. Fr. Dr. Richard Onwuanaibe lectured at Cleveland State University, Ohio, USA, as professor.
* 1981, Frater (Fr.) Prof. Richard Onwuanibe returned to Nigeria, to Imo State University.
* Priest at St. Mary’s Parish, Ubomiri, in October 1981.
* January 1982, he was transferred to Assumpta Parish, Owerri, where he became the Cathedral Administrator.
* September 1982, he was transferred to his alma mater, St. Peter Claver Junior Seminary, Okpala, where he served as rector from 1982 - 1984.
* 1984, beginning of teaching philosophy at St. Joseph’s Major Seminary, Ikot-Ekpene, for 5 years.
* 1989 changing to Seat of Wisdom Major Seminary, Owerri, where he taught philosophy as a formator, which means teaching on catholic religion
* 2000, His Holiness, Pope John Paul II honoured Fr. Prof. Onwuanibe with the dignity of Monsignor, Chaplain to the Pope.
Now, he lives in Cleveland Ohio.
Social activities
Onwuanibe founded the Christian Child Care (CCC), a non-profit charitable organization located at Umuobaa, Urata as provision for Orphanage, Maternity Clinic, Nursery/Primary/Secondary School and a Research Institute.
