Kai Edwards (born 29 January 1991) is a Welsh professional footballer who currently plays as a centre-back for Wrexham in the National League. Edwards returned to the club after spending his youth years at the club. Following that he played for his hometown Prestatyn and Neath before enduring a successful spell at The New Saints. Wrexham (youth) He spent his youth time at Wrexham FC. Despite being offered a new professional contract by manager Dean Saunders he joined Prestatyn Town. Prestatyn (loan) In his loan at his hometown club, Edwards spent four months with the 'Seasiders' and made 16 league appearances. Neath He moved on from Wrexham to Neath where he scored one goal against Afan Lido and made 29 appearances. The New Saints For The New Saints, in his opening season he played 17 league matches, also featuring in one of the Champions League qualifiers against Helsingborgs. The following season he played both of the Champions League qualifiers against Legia Warsaw, while he scored 3 times in the Welsh Premier League out of 22 appearances. Again, he scored 3 goals in the Welsh Premier League season while featuring in both CL qualifiers against Bratislava. In his final season at the club, he played all 4 of the CL qualifiers, while he scored once in 22 matches in the league. Wrexham Edwards re-joined Wrexham in 2016, becoming first signing of the season. Mills stated it is “perfect timing” for defender Edwards to return to Wrexham and prove himself in the National League. Wales Terry Boyle handed out an international debut to Edwards at 20 years old, as he featured for Wales u23 in two international friendlies in 2011. He played the full 90 minutes in a 2-1 away win against Estonia and a 4-0 defeat in Norway.
