K. Tara Smith

K. Tara Smith (born 1959 in Brampton, Cumberland) is a British human factors expert.
K. Tara Smith is named after Tara Singh (the wrestler) a close friend of his father’s. Smith is recognised as one of the most creative human factors practitioners in the UK. Tara has never been content with just being a Human Factors professional, but has always pushed the boundaries of Human Factors in his work.
He initially trained as an industrial designer (BA from Newcastle Polytechnic 1982) but soon found his forte in Ergonomics and Human Factors (MSc from Loughborough 1984). He was part of the design team that received a design award for a microwave test set in 1993 and became a fellow of the British Ergonomics Society in 2000.
