K. Hari Prasad

Hari Prasad Kovelamudi, is an anaesthetist and the president for the hospitals division of the first corporate chain of hospitals in India, the Apollo Hospitals Group, overseeing the group's operations in six countries.
Prasad is the first doctor outside Europe to be honoured with a fellowship of the College of Emergency Medicine, UK and the first in India to receive a fellowship of the International Federation for Emergency Medicine. He is also the course director for paramedic training program in collaboration with Stanford University, USA, Emergency Medicine Programs with the Royal College of General Practitioners, UK and College of Emergency Medicine, UK. He is also on the board of directors of the Apollo Institute of Hospital Administration (AIHA). He was the founder President of Society for Emergency Medicine and is a member of Indian Society of Anesthesiology and Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine.
Early life, education and cricket
Prasad was born in the Hyderabad city of Telangana on 13 June 1964. He did his schooling in the Hyderabad Public School at Begumpet, where he was a cricketer. He opened for the Hyderabad Ranji Trophy team and scored 72 on debut, besides bowling 4 maiden overs and taking one wicket. He represented Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy for 3 consecutive seasons between 1981 and 1984. He got into Gandhi Medical College in sports quota.
Career
During the final years of MBBS, he Prasad practiced in his family-run Sridevi Nursing Home at Secunderabad. Later, he joined Apollo Hospitals as a consultant anesthetist in the late 1990s. He was later promoted to management, and he attended the Hospital Management Program at the Singapore Management University in 2007.
Prasad serves as a director on the board of Sapien Biosciences, a health-innovation company. and was on the panel for the Indian Healthcare Summit organised by the Government Of India.
