K-1 Koshien 2008 King of Under 18 Final 16

K-1 Koshien 2008 King of Under 18 Final 16 was a martial arts event promoted by the K-1 organization. It featured eight 'Elimination Fights' for the newly created K-1 Koshien Championship - a competition open to male Japanese high school students aged between 16 and 18, with all fights fought under K-1 Youth Rules (60 kg/132 lbs). Each bout would be three rounds long but with two minute rounds instead of the normal three.
All of the sixteen elimination fighters had qualifed via preliminary tournaments held earlier in the year in Tokyo, Aomori, Aichi, Fukuoka and Osaka. As well as the elimination matches there were also a number of 'Opening Fights' and 'Special Fights' fought under K-1 Youth Rules (57-62 kg/126-137 lbs) and two Karate bouts. In total there were thirty-six fighters at the event, all from Japan.
The eight winners of the 'Elimination Fights' would advance to the K-1 Koshien Final 8 which would take place at the 2008 K-1 World MAX Final. The event was held at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, Japan on August 29, 2008.
