Julie McAnulty

Julie McAnulty is the SNP Councillor for Coatbridge North and Glenboig ward in North Lanarkshire.
During a bitter internal selection battle for the SNP candidacy for the Coatbridge and Chryston constituency, McAnulty was suspended from the party after allegations were published in a tabloid newspaper that she had made racist remarks.
An internal investigation was launched and Private Investigator Stewart Dredge was sent by National Secretary Patrick Grady to carry out this investigation.
While this investigation was going on McAnulty was reported to have spent seven hours speaking to the Police Counter Corruption Unit at Fettes in Edinburgh.
McAnulty's suspension was followed by the suspension of the entire local branch, who responded by holding a protest at the 2016 Conference in Glasgow.
As of this date, McAnulty remains suspended.
