Judith Rabinor

Judith Ruskay Rabinor is a New York City-based clinical psychologist who as written widely on the topics of body image and eating disorders and has been featured on Oprah, among other shows. Rabinor founded the American Eating Disorders Center of Long Island. Rabinor consults to the Renfrew Center Foundation, is serves as an instructor the Center for the Study of Anorexia and Bulimia in New York City and Long Island University. She contributes to topics on divorce at Huffington Post, including issues covered in her upcoming book, Befriendng Your Ex: A Savvy Guide to Life After Divorce.
Dr. Rabinor has also contributed widely to Psychology Today.
Dr. Rabinor has presented workshops at The Renfrew Center Foundation conference, The International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals, Harvard Medical School of Continuing Education, The Esalen Institute, National Association of Social Work meetings, Princeton University and Barnard College, among many other institutions.
As a featured expert on Oprah, Rabinor guided Oprah Winfrey's guests through guided hypnosis to help them delve into the realization that they suffered from body dysmorphic disorder. This diagnosis, according to Dr. Rabinor, caused the guests to harbor deep-seated feelings of being ugly and an obsession with their looks. She has condemed pro-ana (pro-anorexia) websites on CBS'"The Early Show" that tout the disease as a viable lifestyle.
Rabinor also was a featured analyst in the Orthodox Union-sponsored documentary on eating disorders in the Jewish community: "Hungry to be Heard."
