Cukier Goldstein-Goren Foundation

The Cukier,Goldstein-Goren Foundation was established under Israeli law by the Cukier and Goldstein - Goren families in 1972to support projects in education, culture, health and social welfare.
The Foundation has established projects in all these fields in: Tel - Aviv, Jerusalem, Be'er Sheva, Dimona, Ra'anana,Milan in Italy, Bucharest in Romania and New-York in USA.
Avram Goldstein-Goren (1905-2005) was the head of the Foundation from its inception until his death.
Today the foundation is run by his four children, Alexander Goren, Viviana Goren Khazzam, Micaela Goren Monti and James Goren.

Goldstein-Goren Centers
The Foundation created five centers dedicated to the study and scholarship of diferent aspects of Jewish culture and tradition:
The Goldstein-Goren International Center for Jewish Thought at Ben-Gurion University
The Goldstein-Goren-International Center for Jewish Thought was established in academic year 1999/2000 at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, as a part of the Goldstein-Goren Department of Jewish Thought. The Center offers a number of doctoral and post-doctoral scholarships each year. It also promotes every three years an international conference during which the Goldstein-Goren Prize is awarded to the best book on Jewish Thought published during that period.
The Center is directed by Prof. Howard Kreisel.
The Judaica Center at the Univerita’ Statale of Milano
The Goldstein-Goren Judaica Center at the Univerita’ Statale in Milan was established in November 1996. This is the first university center for Jewish studies in Italy. Student enrollment in the courses offered by the Center is increasing yearly and in academic year 2000 the first students majoring in one of the subjects offered by the Center, History of Jewish Philosophy, graduated.
The Center for Jewish Studies at the State University of Bucharest
The Goldstein-Goren Center for Jewish Studies at the State University of Bucharest, Romania was established in academic year 1998 / 1999. In spite of the difficult political and economic climate prevailing in Romania, the Center is developing satisfactorily and attracting the interest of a steadily growing number of students.
The Center for American Jewish History at New York University
In September 2003 the Foundation endowed the establishment of the Center for American Jewish History at New York University. The Center's proposed main activities will be:
* Research and publish a series of books about the history and role of Jews in Ameican life and culture.
* Organize conferences at regular intervals to bring together scholars around a specific topic to exchange ideas, increase knowledge and lay the groundwork for future books in the series.
* Educate and train graduate students in Hebrew and Judaic Studies and American History, with the hope that they will become future scholars and authors in this field.
The Goren Goldstein Diaspora Research Center at Tel-Aviv University
The Goren Goldstein Diaspora Research Center, which encompasses the Center of History of Romanian Jews as well as any existing of future Center for the History of any national group of Diaspora Jews. The Diaspora Research Center was inaugurated in May 2002.
In 1987, the Foundation endowed the establishment of the Center for the History of Romanian Jews at Tel-Aviv University. The Center’s main objectives include:
* Research into and publishing of articles on the history of Romanian Jews.
* Collection of historical documents and archive material related to the history of the Jews in Romania.
* Writing and publishing a multi-volume history of the Jews in Romania.
* Cooperation with research institutes throughout the world and hosting of international symposia.
