Abbas abu saleh

Abbas S. Abu Salih, born on July 28, 1943 is a Lebanese historian. He has several academic contributions concerning the history of Lebanon and the history of the Druze.
Early life
Abbas Said Abu Salih (Abbas Abu Saleh) was born in the village of Batloun in Shouf district.

Academic career
He attended the Protestant Elementary School in Batloun from (1948-1954).He continued his elementary education in Batloun official school(1956-1957). After which he joined Al Nazaha school in Bakleen(1958-1959).In 1958 he joined the Al-Saïd School (1958-1959).Later Abu Salih entered the Nashe Al-Jadeed College(1959-1960).In 1960 he joined theInternational School of Choueifat - Lebanon.
After Earning his Baccalaureate Part II in 1961,he entered the The Lebanese University and graduated with a License (B.A) in History in 1965.He continued his academic career and earned a teaching Diploma in History from the Lebanese University in 1966.Through a scholarship grant for graduate study for highest academic achievers from The Lebanese University(1967-1971). He traveled to the States where he studied at the University of Texas at Austin receiving a Non Resident tuition scholarship in 1968 from the University of Texas at Austin covering 1968-1971 enabling him to earn his M.A in History from the University of Texas at Austin, in the year 1969.Abu Salih continued his academic career towards a doctorate degree .Earning a graduate school research grant from the University in 1970 graduating with a PhD in History from the University of Texas at Austin in the year 1971.
Upon receiving his doctorate, Abu Salih returned to Beirut to hold the position of an Assistant professor in the Lebanese University in the Department of History under the Faculty of Letters and Humanities (1971-1973).In 1974 he served as a chairman of the history division at the Educational Council for Research and Development. Later in 1975 he continued his teaching career at the Lebanese University as an assistant professor (1975-1987) during which the Lebanese civil war erupted. In 1987 Abu Salih joined the Civilization Sequence Program at theAmerican University of Beirut as a lecturer and an assistant professor(1987-1999).In 1999 Abu Salih taught as a professor of history at the Department of History in the Lebanese University. In 2004 Abu Salih relocated in Salalah, Oman as a Chairperson of the Department of Social Sciences at the Dhofar University (a newly established university under the supervision of A.U.B)
