JP Gates is an American college baseball left-handed pitcher and first baseman for the Miami Hurricanes. High school Gates was a four-year starter at Nature's Coast High School. He was rated as a top-60 prospect in the country and the number 1 left-handed pitcher in Florida by Perfect Game. College Gates committed to the University of Miami. After not being drafted out of high school, he chose to honor his commitment to Miami. Through his first nine pitching appearances in 2019, he posted a 5.40 ERA. As a hitter, he has had 3 at bats, going 2-for-3 with a double and a single. |
