Joshua Muggleton

Joshua Thomas Bailey Muggleton (born 7 July 1989) is a writer and consultant on Asperger syndrome. He is currently a Psychology student at St Andrews University and a participant in the Channel 4 project Yeardot. He was born in Guildford, Surrey.
Academic history
Muggleton was bullied from an early age and became suicidal during his secondary education. His mental state continued to degrade until he had a nervous breakdown at age 15, shortly after he was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome. Muggleton spent the next six months in and out of school, unable to return to full time study. Four months before his GCSEs, he was officially signed off school by his psychiatrist. He spent the run up to his GCSEs self studying, obtaining a B and seven Cs.
Muggleton then attended Farleigh Further Education College, a specialist collage for people with Asperger syndrome partnered with City of Bath College, leaving with A levels in Maths, Psychology and Business Studies and an AS level in Physics. He was subsequently accepted into the University of St Andrews.
Autism career
Muggleton started giving lectures and workshops when he was 15. He spoke at the NAS "Make School Make Sense" campaign launch at the House of Commons and has spoken at Liberal Democrat and Labour party conferences. His story and active campaigning has led to numerous interviews with local and specialist education newspapers and periodicals as well as various BBC outlets and CNN.
In 2007 Joshua was elected as a Councillor for the NAS. At age 18, this makes him the youngest ever councillor in the charity's history.
