James Gurling

James Gurling (born 1966) is a British politician. A Liberal Democrat elected to the Newington Ward of the London Borough of Southwark in 1998, he is currently Chair of the Borough's Planning Committee. Gurling is also a directly elected member to the Federal Executive of the Liberal Democrats, the third largest political party in the United Kingdom. A close friend of Charles Kennedy, leader of the Liberal Democrats from 1999 to 2006, Gurling was Kennedy’s Leadership campaign agent and acted as an adviser throughout his leadership of the party. Gurling’s sister, Sarah, is married to Charles Kennedy. Gurling was educated at Archbishop Tenison’s School and Furzedown Secondary School and read History & Politics at the University of Hull. |
