Josh Olin, (a.k.a JD_2020) is an American entrepreneur and corporate spokesperson. He began pursuing Entrepreneurship while attending school at the Rochester Institute of Technology majoring in Software Engineering. He co-founded his first company, TimeHero LLC, in 2006 with his dormitory roommate at the time, Ian Paterson. The company's first property was myTimeHero.com, a social network for the over-30 crowd. Olin and Paterson would continue to found Aggregame.com - a social media utility for video gamers, with the spin of creating a mini-game out of user-submitted news content. In January 2008, Olin was hired by Activision to work at Treyarch as the company's first Community Manager. There, he helped create gaming communities around their Holiday Season 2008 Call of Duty: World at War and Quantum of Solace video game releases. Leading up to the games' worldwide launches, Olin appeared at several venues including the Leipzig Games Convention '08, serving as a corporate spokesperson for the titles. Presently, he manages the online community at CallOfDuty.com, occasionally promoting post-release Downloadable Content, such as a GameSpot interview for Map Pack 1. History Olin has an extensive reputation with various online gaming communities. He has managed and maintained several influential gaming news sites, including Call of Duty HQ. He also created the most popular Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: World at War remote Rcon utilities - ModernRcon - now known as AGrcon. Call of Duty HQ In 2005, Olin launched his very own fan site for the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty HQ. For the next 3+ years he would author hundreds of news articles and popular files related to the Call of Duty franchise. Call of Duty HQ grew to be one of the most popular 3rd party Call of Duty resources on the 'Net, seen as a valuable source for reliable, objective franchise information and community news. In 2007, Infinity Ward flew a number of community journalists / enthusiasts out to preview Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Among this group was Olin, representing Call of Duty HQ. This was followed by a subsequent trip to Hollywood, CA for the First to Play event where gaming press from around the world was invited for a hands-on preview of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. RTCWFiles From 2002 to 2005, Olin was Site Manager for RTCWFiles.com - a satellite network site operated by FileFront. While there, he managed the team of editors responsible for publishing news and downloads for the Return to Castle Wolfenstein community, including maps, mods, and official game patches. ModernRcon Just after the release of Call of Duty 4, Olin created the first Rcon utility for the game, called ModernRcon. The utility was coded in Java, and saw 8 versions of releases (v0.1 thru v0.8). In early 2009, ModernRcon became known as AGrcon as Olin revamped the tool to fully support both CoD4, and Call of Duty: World at War. The tool essentially gives CoD4 and CoD:WaW PC server administrators the ability to remotely control their game servers without having to login to their server, or even have the game installed. It's a 3rd party application which utilizes the Rcon Protocol to communicate with the game server via any networked computer. Functions like Kicking, Banning, Private Messaging, Chat Monitoring, and Server Configurations which were previously complex with steep learning curves can now be managed by even the most novice of computer users with the simple and easy-to-use UI AGrcon offers.
