Joseph L. Kennedy

Joseph Lewis Kennedy (born October 17, 1971) is a Libertarian political activist who ran as an independent candidate for the United States Senate special election in Massachusetts on January 19, 2010. Kennedy is a member of the National Libertarian Party and holds the position of reporting secretary for the Massachusetts Libertarian Party.
Candidacy in 2010 Massachusetts special election
Kennedy ran as an independent libertarian in the United States Senate special election to replace Ted Kennedy and was supported by national Libertarian Party. The Massachusetts state election division listed his party as "Liberty. He was also endorsed by the Boston Tea Party.
In the special election held January 19, 2010, Kennedy received 1% of the vote and placed third behind election winner Scott Brown, the Republican candidate, and Democratic candidate Martha Coakley. During the election, robocalls were placed in support of Kennedy's candidacy by the RightMarch.com Political Action Committee, reportedly targeting Democrat voters in order to win their vote on the basis of the Kennedy name. Kennedy alleged that he had received five death threats from Brown supporters who feared he would be a spoiler in the race.
