Joseph Geierman is the current Mayor of Doraville, Georgia and a director at the law firm Troutman Sanders. Geierman began his term in 2020 after previously serving as a member of Doraville City Council. Geierman is the first openly LGBT Mayor of Doraville and the second openly LGBT mayor in Georgia. Education Geierman received a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1998 and an M.S. in Building Construction and Facilities Management from Georgia Tech in 2009. Career In 2009, Geierman began working at the Atlanta-based law firm Troutman Sanders, where he now serves as Director of Real Estate and Facilities. There, he "manages leasing, real estate-related capital projects, and facilities-related contracts and operating budgets for the firm." In the November 2019 general election for Mayor of Doraville, Geierman did not get the 50% of votes needed to unseat an incumbent. He went on to defeat the incumbent Mayor Donna Pittman in an run-off election. Geierman became the first openly LBGT Mayor of Doraville and the fourth openly LGBT mayor in Georgia. On January 6, 2020, Geierman was sworn into office as Mayor of Doraville. Geierman's current term will end on December 31, 2023. Personal life Geierman is married to his husband, B.J.
