Dan Gilman

Dan Gilman is a Democratic member of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, City Council. Gilman served as the Chief of Staff for his predecessor, Bill Peduto for 8 years. Upon Peduto's decision to vacate his council seat to run for mayor, Gilman announced his candidacy to replace him. Gilman won the Democratic primary election for the District 8 seat on May 21, 2013 with 59% of the vote over Sam Hens-Greco, with 24%, and, Jeanne Clark, with 16%. Gilman proceeded to win the general election to represent District 8 on November 5, 2013 with 89% of the vote over Mordecai Treblow's 10%. He took office on January 6, 2014. and continued on to Carnegie Mellon University where he received his Bachelor's degree in 2004. While at Carnegie Mellon, he served as student body president.<ref name="shadysideac" />
