Appointment to City Council

Jarvis was selected from a pool of 14 applicants, 9 of whom who were actually interviewed for the position. He was sworn into office on February 23, 2009 by Mayor Julie Vann.
2009 Election
In the November 2009 general election, Jarvis was one of three city council candidates endorsed by the Dayton Daily News editorial board. He ran on the issues of supporting an earnings tax to replace high property taxes as well as the need for Beavercreek Township to merge with the City of Beavercreek before too much township land was lost to annexation by the neighboring cities of Fairborn, Ohio and Xenia, Ohio.
Jarvis was elected to Beavercreek City Council in November 2009 in his first run for political office. He finished in second place (with 19.61% of the vote) in a race between six candidates vying for three seats on council and will serve as Beavercreek’s Vice Mayor effective January 2010. Jarvis’ term on City Council will end on December 31, 2013 with the first two years serving as Vice Mayor and as a Council Member for the remaining two years of office.

His primary responsibility is to manage the coordination, acquisition, and utilization of legal resources in order to ensure that the library's legal research, reference, and services are accessible to the county and to the municipal corporations, townships, and courts within the county.
