Jose Monteiro Lima

Professor Jose Monteiro Lima, born in January 4, 1911, at his parents farms (Barro Alto farm), which is today the town of Padre Bernardo, Goias, Brazil. He was elected the first council member of that region, representing his area at the Luziania's city county(representante de Padre Bernardo na Camara Municipal de Luziania-GO), before Padre Bernardo=GO became a county. He was a civic leader, and the founder of the town of Padre Bernardo. Several Places was named after him, such as a street in Goias' Capital Goiania (Rua Vereador Jose Monteiro), a High School (Colegio Estadual Professor Jose Monteiro Lima) and Rua Monteiro Lima ( Monteiro Lima street) both located in his town. Due to his contribuition to build a community and the impact he had on lives of many people of that town, he was a very respected figure there. He was the first teacher in that region of Goias State, which is why the citizens there use to call him professor. In downtown Padre Bernardo at the Central Square there is a statue of the Professor looking sublimingly to the High School named after him.
