Jorge F. Ramos

Master Fernando Jorge Gomes Ramos (F. Jorge Ramos) is a taekwondo coach.
Fernando Jorge Gomes Ramos was born in Guinea-Bissau in 1964. He is part of a generation of African Taekwondo Masters.
Career
As an athlete he made his career in Spain, Portugal (four times national champion) and France. His last official appearance as a fighter was the International Open of France in Anthony in 1997 (gold medal middleweight category and MVP of the tournament). He has spent most of his time in France since 1997.
He is the first African Master to achieve two gold medals with an African team at two consecutives Taekwondo world championships (Copenhagen 2009 and Beijing 2007).
Ramos teaches Taekwondo at the CSMG Genneviliers Club in France. Together with Master Chindavong Valy (a former member of the French national team) they train and coach the Paris region team (CRT Ile de France) a team that have won the Taekwondo Team French Cup several times and different European international tournaments.
Former members of the "CRT Ile de France team" include Daba Modibo Keïta from Mali, a heavyweight world champion 2009 and 2007; the first African to become double Taekwondo World Champion. A gold medalist of the First ParaTaekwondo World Championship Kong Bopha (-54) from the French National team is another student trained by Ramos.
As coach he has participated at the World Championships in 2005, 2007 and 2009; the 2008 Summer Olympics, the 2007 Olympic World tournament (Manchester), the 2007 African Olympic qualification Tournament (Libya), the 2007 All African Games (Algeria), and different international A class tournaments (Paris International Tournament, Dutch Open, German Open, British Open, Croatia, US Open, Egypt International Port Said Open, China).
Among his students there are several French National Champions and members of the French national team (awarded at European Championships, world championships and International A class tournaments) and other athletes from different countries including Austria, Brazil, Mali, and Portugal.
Awards
At the 2005 World Championship the Mali national team, coached by Ramos, was awarded for the first time with the fighting spirit trophy.
On April 10, 2009, he was inducted to the Taekwondo Hall of Fame and awarded World Coach of the year. He was one of five coaches awarded Best Coach by the World Taekwondo Federation at the 2009 World Taekwondo Championship in Copenhagen.
