Jorge Bechara

Jorge Bechara is a photojournalist based in Sydney, Australia as a foreign correspondent for major press agencies, newspapers and magazines around the world.

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Jorge Bechara has been living in Australia since 1998.
Biography
Jorge Bechara first formal education in photography was at the tertiary course of Journalism which he attended at the Universidade da Cidade, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in the 1980s. His interest in documentary photography began when he was the manager of media relations of MASP - São Paulo Museum of Art, under de direction of professor Pietro Maria Bardi, and MAM - São Paulo Museum of Modern Art. From 1987 to 1994 he was involved in the organization of exhibitions of the original work of some of the 20th century most prominent photographers, such as August Sander, Lennart Nilsson, Sebastião Salgado and Henri Cartier-Bresson.
In parallel with his photographic work, Jorge Bechara has been writing for publications worldwide and teaching in established institutions.
